As I travelled home from the 2025 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting and reflected on Buffett’s announced retirement, I had a strong feeling that it was time to update my book.
With support from my editor, Erika, and the incredible team at Harriman House, we’ll bring it across the finish line just in time for the 2026 annual meeting.

The first edition, published in April 2021, covered Berkshire’s history through 2019. Now, with Buffett’s official 60th year in the books, a more “complete” financial history of Berkshire through Buffett’s entire tenure as CEO would be possible.

Although the publishing deadline meant that 2025 couldn’t be covered in depth, the updated material (25,000 words) covers important major events over the past half-decade, including the maturing Apple investment, the pandemic, Berkshire’s Japanese investments, its acquisition of Alleghany, the spicy story of the Pilot saga, share repurchases, and much more.
