Why Maple Syrup Bottles Have Tiny Handles
This is a great example of evolution in action outside of a living organism—except in this case it’s “genetic baggage” (hitchhiking allele for you biologists). Generations ago, larger bottles had usable handles. As they got smaller the manufacturers kept the handle. Now, even plastic bottles have the little handle. I wonder how many appendix-like holdovers there are like this — my guess is a lot if you start looking for them.
